    A process plant which has an electrical demand of 5 MW at a lagging power factor of 0,8 is supplied in parallel with a 4,8 MW separately excited motor which has a demand of 5,333 MVA at a leading power factor of 0,9. The system voltage is 11 kV. The motor drives a compressor which delivers 50 000 m3/h of air.
    (a) Four types of motor protection, other than thermal overload, and the purpose of each one, have to be stated.
    (b) The power factor of the complete reticulation system has to be determined
